A little about ME...

I was born and raised in SW Missouri- the 2nd of 5 kids! From the beginning we all spent most of our time outdoors imagining the trees behind our house were huge forts and caves and we just had to survive! I have a very athletic family so climbing up branches, jumping across small creeks, and playing 2 on 2 (because Austin was too small) on our driveway basketball court were daily activities.

After graduating from my fairly small high school I ventured to the University of Central Missouri on a softball scholarship ready to become an athletic trainer! After a semester I became Pre-Chiropractic and a year later decided I may as well add on Exercise Science! Two years of softball was enough for me and I switched to track and field. I stayed a 5th year to complete my dual degrees and compete in the heptathlon in which I achieved All American Honors. Throughout my undergrad I worked for a chiropractor performing passive and active therapies, helping with clients in their rehabilitation phase, and working with clients to achieve weight loss. Coming to the close of my (second) senior year I had no good idea what I wanted to do with a career... At that point I applied for a scholarship and stayed to pursue graduate school. I taught six hours of undergraduate wellness courses while I worked towards a MS in Exercise Physiology.

Two years later I moved to Kansas City, MO and worked as a rehabilitation director in an office with four chiropractors and acupuncturists. Realizing this setting wasn't the perfect fit for me I took a job in the sales world... FITNESS sales and services but after 2 and half years I still didn't feel I had met my calling. I went through a few interviews and finally realized I needed to work for myself- I get to spend lots more time with my family and still SERVE others! This is what FITandWELLkc is all about! I was looking for that job that doesn't feel like work and I finally found it.

As I continue to study, further educate, and work towards a fit and well lifestyle myself I am able to meet new people, educate them, and build lasting relationships! My work in progress at the moment is prenatal yoga and wellness care- it is a lengthy process but so worth it!

Aside from education- I have a 14 month old son and an amazing hubby! We frequent Deanna Rose Farmstead and the KC Zoo as well as the pool, and really any body of water! Eli loves stroller rides so we try to get out and walk quite a bit- especially on these days that aren't quite as hot! I'm a huge fan of books, food, sunshine, and being social! Remember to spend time with the people you love :)

xoxo Angela
